Fall Rocks?

What a great time of the year this is to go riding! I probably sound insane, but really it's beautiful outside...sometimes.

The leaves have been changing and putting on a fabulous show of reds, oranges and yellows; it only lasts a few weeks, you have to stop and soak it in for a minute.

Down in the river valleys here in Toronto the salmon have been running. I went down to the Humber river 3 times to watch them swimming in the shallows below the falls. They make astounding leaps to burst from the water's surface in an effort to get up the steps at each set of falls up the river. Even with all the power that they exhibit in their leaps at the falls they seem to invariably fall back into the water. What a sight though, and in downtown Toronto!

Another great thing is the actual riding. Some mornings, with a little brisk bite in the air, are so refreshing. Every time I go riding I love it, my legs are fresh, and more importantly so is my heads.

When I head out on the bike path it's hard to just go along at a lazy tempo. It seems that I'm always ratcheting up the gears, with visions of glory playing in my head. Nothing crazy like winning the Tour, but some of the bigger races in America aren't too much of a leap of the imagination; a great ride in San Fran is something that I look forward to for next season.

All in all it's just a nice time to spend on the bike. Soon it'll be crappy and a chore so now's the time to enjoy things.

Keep the rubber side down, as they say.
